| I'm trying to update my site, so I just want to say "hello out there." Is anyone reading this?
Have a great day!

| John & I are in Orlando, Florida for the National Pool & Spa Convention. I'd like to say we're enjoying beautiful, sunny weather, but unfortunately it's been cool and rainy for the past couple days. Today is our first free day to enjoy the area, and I think we're going to go to SeaWorld. It's just down the street from our hotel and we haven't gone there in many years, so we're going to give it a try.
We're staying at a very nice Marriott hotel here. They serve a full buffet breakfast every morning and the swimming pool is just beautiful (if we ever get to enjoy it!). I like that they play Christmas Carols around the pool. It's pretty neat.
Tomorrow we're going to visit a large church down here that Pastor Todd Staal recommended to us. We haven't visited at a church in many years, so it's going to be fun to see how others worship.
Last night we went to the Comedy Warehouse at Disney. Very funny! But River City Improv in GR is just as good and the price tag is a lot better ($21 versus $8).
Blessings to all!

| Due to popular request, I will update my Xanga site. Don't know if anyone will actually read it or not, but here goes.......
I'm currently staying at the Venetian Hotel in LasVegas, Nevada. It's a gorgeous resort. When the building connected to our tower is completed, The Venetian will then be the largest hotel IN THE WORLD. It will have 7,000 rooms. It's already huge, but it's going to be gigantic then.
We have gotten a lot of walking in, especially me. Our first morning here, John and I walked for two hours, then ate at a breakfast buffet. It's been a lot of fun trying the different buffets and restaurants. I opted not to go to the spa here this time as their prices are outrageous.
John is here for the annual IDN meetings. IDN is a buying group, or co-op, for pool distributors from around the U.S. They meet every Sept. to make decisions on their purchasing choices for the year. They can get better prices on their merchandise when they buy it together as one big group.
Last night was our group's award banquet. We were served a four course dinner with cocktails preceding it. It was very good food. Interesting note: John told me that the hotel charged $120 per person for the banquet. Amazing, isn't it?
Chris is now at Compass Film School and is enjoying it from what he tells us. Most of the classes are very hands on, so he likes that aspect of it. Michelle is very busy taking college classes from both GRCC and Davenport University. Her medical classes keep her studying! And Laura just started classes last week at the newly formed Parent Teacher Co-op. That is going very well too.
Since my last update, all three of my kids have been employed at The Bagel Beanery. Isn't that something? It's a good place to work, and all of them enjoyed working there. Chris doesn't work there anymore. He's now back at Quality Pool supply driving truck.
And I'm on the steering committee of the new Tutoring Co-op. As treasurer, I get to keep all the money! Laura is so jealous (just kidding). That's it for now. Hope you enjoyed a bit of my life!

| Time for an update. Chris started at Compass Film Academy yesterday. He said the class was great (History of Film). It sounds like a fun class to me. You have to watch 10 different films and study the different director's styles, etc. There are 15 others in the class.
Chris and I visited there last week and met with one of the key instructors for an hour. What an amazing place! They have made films there like Shrek, X-Men, Bobby Jones, etc. This is a big time film studio! Most impressive. But it is a Christian film studio, so their philsophy is toward producing better films, and also moral films. Often they are films with a message.
Laura crashed her Mercedes last week. That was huge news around here. John had just left for Mexico the day before to go on a 10 day mission trip. Thursday night the roads were very bad. She was coming home from Teenworks and lost control of the car on 68th St., near Dutton. She took out a mailbox and smashed the left side of the car, then she spun and hit a telephone phone, totally destroying the front door (on the passenger side). The window and mirror are gone. So we have damage on both sides of the car, plus a little on the front fender. Michelle took pictures if anyone wants to see it.
No one was hurt, not a scratch. Interestingly enough, this was her first time to have a passenger in the front seat, but God was protecting them both. At one point they were in the opposing traffic lane, but no one was there at the time. We praise God for safely delivering them from that incident! Now we're waiting for the appraiser to give us the scoop on the estimated damage.
This week is the Teenworks Drama. We've been busy with extra rehearsals and such. After Friday night's final performance, we will be having the cast party here at our house. It's always a lot of fun! But I'll definitely be resting up on Saturday!
John is enjoying the work on the missions trip, but he sounded a bit tired last night. He had been swinging a pick axe all day, breaking up very hard ground. He said it was worse than hard clay. It would stick to the axe, so that was an additional headache. Plus there were lots of rocks to deal with. At least he has sunshine and nice weather! They ate dinner at the local Wal-Mart last night, so I guess I have to say I'm not jealous of that!
Stay warm!

| Happy New Year!
We had a wonderful Christmas season with lots of traveling involved in seeing everyone. First, we went to Clio to have Christmas with my family. Then, we traveled up north to the lodge to enjoy the new year with my family (again). I love my family, can't you tell? Go Dutch Blitz (a favorite game of mine).!!!! Then, this week, we took an Amtrak train to Chicago to visit my son, Chris, who lives there. We had a great time. Went to see Wicked (the musical), spent yesterday at the Museum of Science & Industry, then came home late last night. Such fun.
Turns out that Chris is coming back to Grand Rapids to live ( I just found out today!). He gave his notice today at his job at m.henry. He is going to go to Compass Arts Academy in GR. It's a Christian film school, and a very good one at that. He finally seems to know what he wants to pursue, education wise. I'm really glad for his decision. And it will be great to have him closer to home.
That's it for now. Tomorrow, John and I are running concessions at the Home School Building for a Train Show. That should be fun. We did it last year, and the train show organizers asked for John and I to be the concessions people again this year. I guess they liked us! Go figure.
